I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your

letters of the 3rd ultimo and the 6t instant relative to

the robbery on August 8 last at the house of r. To Yee Gwee

The Regulations governing the import of arms and

arrunit or into bina are well-known to me, and I do not,

of course, question their validity; but t.ose regulationa

provide no authority or exoice for the action of the Swator

If it is suspected

that he acted contrary to the regulations, it is for tuo

proper authorities to prosecute hi in tus Court to high he

is amenable, namely in this Consular ourt, where tue matter

will be investigated and decided necording to law.
